There’s nothing like the self-aggrandisement of Australia’s puffed-up start-ups to draw our attention away from the big super gravy train.

Ben Thompson, of grandiosely named workforce management platform Employment Hero, has spent the past two weeks on a self-chosen crusade against Hostplus, sparked by the fund’s suggestion in a government submission filed all the way back in November. It said employees shouldn’t have their workplace’s digital platforms promote funds that have paid for the privilege.
